Job Requirements

  • Serv Safe Certification within first available class
  • maintain certification during employment
  • valid food handler's card
  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • ability to stand for over two-thirds of the time
  • ability to walk for over two-thirds of the time
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to work 40-45 hours per week
  • availability for up to 3 special events per semester
  • ability to read and interpret safety and operating documents in English

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules and procedures
  • familiarity with compliance software
  • proficiency with database user interface and query software
  • experience with inventory management software
  • competent with Greek House Chefs App
  • ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment including blenders, broilers, convection ovens, cutlery, deep fryers, and mandolin slicers

Job Duties

  • Ensures overall health of the account is positive and in good standing
  • plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities
  • modifies menus or creates new ones that meet quality standards
  • assists in recruiting and managing kitchen staff
  • manages employees' schedules and hours
  • manages the GHC App
  • ensures overall cleanliness of kitchen meets health and equipment cleaning standards
  • conducts periodic inspections of units for quality of food preparation, appearance, and sanitation
  • coordinates all training activities for kitchen and production staff
  • follows training manual procedures for equipment item requests
  • develops recipes and portion specifications according to standards and budget
  • creates and submits menus two weeks ahead for approval
  • submits budget on the GHC App weekly
  • checks weekly app review reports
  • attends food committee reviews monthly
  • maintains a professional appearance with a clean chef coat
  • works minimum 40-45 hours weekly
  • receives deliveries and checks quality and quantity
  • plans and participates in up to 3 special events per semester
  • maintains positive relationships with vendors, directs, and clients
  • works with management to establish and implement service procedures
  • abides by scheduling and time protocols
  • monitors time management responsibilities
  • demonstrates knowledge of GHC Handbook
  • transfers to other worksites as needed
  • performs additional duties as assigned
