Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Hands-on chef skills
  • Experience with high volume foodservice operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software
  • ServSafe certified
  • Ability to lead and manage a culinary team
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Able to comply with health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Extensive catering experience preferred
  • Experience with high volume, complex foodservice operations
  • Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking
  • Hands-on chef experience
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, and cost control
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Lead daily culinary production including meal preparation, food quality, presentation, and compliance with safety standards
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative displays
  • Provide direction on menu development and create seasonal specials
  • Monitor freshness of produce and meat and maintain product consistency
  • Research customer preferences and develop menus featuring local flavors
  • Prepare and cook food for guests and special functions
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Set performance standards and monitor team member performance
  • Communicate safety procedures and monitor their enforcement
  • Monitor quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Enforce food safety guidelines
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards
  • Manage department expenses including food, supplies, and equipment
  • Develop and implement purchasing and receiving control procedures
  • Analyze financial and operational data to adjust business plans
  • Manage labor and food cost budgets
  • Identify revenue and expense opportunities
  • Oversee food inventory and purchasing control
  • Schedule staff based on forecasted volume
  • Deliver 100% resident satisfaction through training and resource provision
  • Maintain professional attitude with customers
  • Improve service through feedback and coaching
  • Support above-and-beyond customer satisfaction
  • Empower employees to provide excellent service
  • Ensure ongoing training on guest expectations
  • Foster hospitality and teamwork
