Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years and older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years culinary experience
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment including choppers, ovens, and fryers
- Safe knife handling skills
- Basic math skills relevant to recipe measurements and conversions
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Strong communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to delegate tasks
- Ability to multitask
- Supervisory experience in a kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3 to 5 years culinary experience
- Successful completion of an accredited culinary program preferred but not required
- Ability to safely operate choppers, ovens, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
- Demonstrated safe knife handling skills
- Understanding of product costing and methods to minimize waste
- Basic knowledge of measurements and conversions for recipes
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Familiarity with HRIS, purchase order/transfer, and item maintenance systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and give clear directions
- Ability to multitask
- Experience supervising and leading a cook team
Job Duties
- Inspire customers to prepare products successfully at home by offering meal suggestions and cooking techniques
- Assist in planning and developing recipes and ensure correct preparation and presentation through production and demonstration
- Ensure the salad bar and displays are merchandised with appropriate signage
- Ensure displays are full and product is rotated appropriately
- Ensure daily production plan is met
- Show, sell, and cross merchandise whenever possible
- Review One Idea Report to identify opportunities to achieve goals
- Place orders with vendors and transfers when needed
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and yearly department inventories
- Assist in hiring, promoting, and training team members
- Provide timely feedback by completing and delivering comprehensive 90 day and mid-year Performance Chats
- Provide feedback to department manager for annual performance appraisals
- Conduct and/or actively participate in monthly department communication meetings
- Address disciplinary issues in a timely fashion
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws
- Ensure the department complies with all health codes, sanitation, and safety regulations
- Ensure representation is present at all monthly Safety Committee Meetings
- Conduct/oversee daily/periodic department cleaning
- Manage other projects as needed
- Oversee daily production to sales within the department to control over/under sales
