Job Requirements

  • 4+ years of kitchen experience in high-volume restaurant or hotel operations
  • Experience in at least one sous chef role
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Must obtain Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days if not certified
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a corporate setting
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one

Job Qualifications

  • Mathematical proficiency including fractions, percentages, and ratios
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • High professionalism and integrity
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
  • Strong leadership and team motivation abilities
  • Must obtain Food Handler’s Certificate and ServSafe certification within 30 days if not already certified

Job Duties

  • Supervise the preparation and presentation of all food items, ensuring compliance with Ascent Hospitality standards
  • Manage culinary staff by hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, counseling, and conducting performance reviews
  • Maintain sanitation standards according to federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is well maintained and functional
  • Control food costs through inventory management, purchasing, pricing, portioning, and waste reduction
  • Monitor inventory to avoid spoilage and ensure proper stock rotation
  • Schedule kitchen employees according to staffing guidelines and forecasts
  • Practice and enforce safety standards, reporting unsafe conditions
  • Review financial transactions and monitor budgets in coordination with Food and Beverage Director and Hotel General Manager
