Job Requirements

  • Culinary Arts degree from recognized school
  • Minimum five years experience in kitchen work in medium to large food service operations
  • At least two years experience as an Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef
  • Knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups
  • Experience in hiring, training and managing food service personnel
  • Must hold current ServSafe certificate
  • Ability to operate computers for data entry and retrieval

Job Qualifications

  • Experience and/or knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups
  • Culinary Arts degree from recognized school
  • Two years related experience as an Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef in comparable food service operation
  • Five years experience in kitchen work in medium to large organizations
  • Two plus years’ experience in hiring, training and managing food service personnel
  • Experience executing culinary techniques including menu design, food preparation and artistic food design
  • Knowledge of culinary terminology
  • Ability to operate computer equipment for data entry and retrieval
  • Must have current ServSafe certificate

Job Duties

  • Plan, test and check cost of new menus and menu items
  • Clean and supervise the cleaning of work areas, equipment and utensils and maintain sanitation standards
  • Function as the lead worker over cooks and food service personnel
  • Participate in interviewing and selection of food service personnel
  • Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, termination, promotion, discipline, layoff and recall
  • Schedule and reschedule staff using independent judgment and discretion
  • Read and understand financial performance and adjust activities accordingly
  • Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory, taking month-end inventory, inspecting quality and quantity of deliveries
