Job Requirements

  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs

  • Experience in staff training and development

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an executive chef or similar managerial role in food service
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
  • Experience with budget development and cost control in a food service environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain policies and training programs
  • Skilled in staff hiring, training, supervision, and performance management
  • Familiarity with electronic POS systems and inventory management
  • Ability to coordinate multi-departmental activities and special events
  • Capacity to handle physical demands of the job
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Overall supervision of the kitchen and dining room functions including supervising employees engaged in food service in the facility
  • Develop departmental budget, maintain control of food and labor costs, and conduct inventory control system
  • Develop and maintain departmental policy and procedure manual, job descriptions, and work assignments
  • Develop the departmental staff education plan and conduct in-service training for personnel
  • Develop and implement work standards, sanitation procedures, and personal hygiene requirements consistent with County, State, and Federal regulations
  • Hire, train, discipline, supervise, and terminate Food Service department employees under the guidance of the Executive Director and Regional Vice President
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of orientation and training, warning notices, and required in-services and health requirements
  • Make rounds at mealtimes to assess the appropriateness of food service presentation, delivery, and make changes as needed
  • Maintain documentation of special resident considerations for allergies, exemptions, and other relevant dietary exceptions
  • Procure food and materials necessary to carry out the functions of the kitchen utilizing good procurement practices
  • Maintain electronic POS system(s) and work-related departments on financial and accounting functions related to food services
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment in cooperation with administration, including inspecting, maintaining, purchasing, repairing, or replacing equipment
  • Coordinate with various departments for special functions such as private parties, holidays, celebrations, and marketing events
  • Be available for duty during emergency situations
  • Maintain disaster food supplies and menus
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and conferences
  • Responsible for kitchen and all food services personnel
  • Perform physical tasks including walking, carrying trays and plates, standing for long durations, and lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Maintain professional grooming and attire appropriate for the chef's role
