Job Requirements

  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree or diploma
  • Minimum five years recent relevant experience
  • Ability to instruct in various phases of culinary activity
  • Desire to interact with patrons, guests, and patients to assess food preferences and program success
  • Knowledge of maintaining safe food environments and proper cleaning procedures
  • Ability to interpret data and follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Must be flexible to work varied shifts including weekends as needed
  • Commitment to uphold regulatory requirements and department policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in culinary arts or equivalent education/experience
  • Chef certification or formal culinary training
  • SS-Serve Safe certification
  • Certified Dietary Manager credential
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff effectively
  • Applied knowledge of food production and delivery processes
  • Customer service and marketing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant food service applications like CBORD Food Service Suite and Micros
  • Understanding of HACCP guidelines and food safety procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with managing profit and loss responsibility

Job Duties

  • Provide overall management and direction to food production and food storage operations
  • Lead and support planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling daily food production functions
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and managers on programmatic, operational changes and cost saving initiatives
  • Hire, schedule, and evaluate staff under direct supervision
  • Perform sanitation, safety, quality, and security checks to ensure compliance with department standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and supervise all food service areas in the absence of higher management
  • Plan special functions and menus for cafeterias, catering, and patient meal service
