Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in culinary arts hospitality or related field
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience cooking and baking from scratch menu planning food procurement or similar experience
  • At least five years in a supervisory role
  • Valid ServSafe Certification
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to work in hot cold and fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Job Duties

  • Plan organize and manage the District food service activities including daily production distribution and service
  • Plan menus and develop recipes
  • Plan organize and implement procurement recycling and compost management programs
  • Coordinate and participate in inventory cashier and sanitation functions
  • Monitor and inspect kitchen operations to ensure quality safety and sanitation standards
  • Supervise cooking assembly packaging preparation heating transport distribution and serving of food items
  • Train and evaluate assigned personnel including conducting ServSafe training
  • Develop and implement quality control standards and ensure compliance with laws regulations and policies
  • Coordinate purchasing activities and manage food supplies and inventories
  • Organize and supervise cleaning of kitchen facilities equipment and utensils
  • Assist with budget development and control expenditures
  • Provide technical information and assistance to the Director
  • Promote Nutrition Services program through various media
  • Prepare and maintain reports records and files related to assigned activities
