Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Experience as supervisor or head cook preferred
  • Ability to make moderately complex mathematical calculations
  • Ability to follow approved standardized recipes and menus for regular and therapeutic diets
  • Ability to make independent decisions without supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact tactfully with residents, family members, staff and general public
  • Experience with standard food production equipment
  • Good physical health verified by health screening
  • Compliance with safety and emergency procedures
  • Compliance with property’s exposure control and blood borne pathogen standards
  • Responsible for reporting and anticipating hazardous conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift weights up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to communicate directions clearly
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adhere to attendance policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • College courses or education in food service or management preferred
  • Completion of ADA approved course in quantity food purchasing, production, service and nutrition preferred
  • Experience as supervisor or head cook preferred

  • Ability to make independent decisions without supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults

Job Duties

  • Prepare all food items per recipes
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry and other food items
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Stock and maintain line stations to assure smooth service
  • Plan and coordinate food and supplies required for daily menus
  • Wash dishes during breakfast as time permits
  • Follow all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment
  • Comply with sanitation standards
  • Follow proper plate presentation and assure quality control
  • Attend monthly dietary meetings and annual in-service training
  • Wear clean uniform and nametag properly
  • Adhere to employee handbook guidelines
  • Greet residents, employees and guests warmly and respectfully
  • Maintain professionalism in conduct and appearance
