Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • several years of experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • demonstrated food safety certification
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • basic computer skills for inventory and scheduling
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and perform kitchen duties

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an executive chef or relevant senior culinary role
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • extensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to develop menus, food purchase specifications, and recipes
  • effective budget management skills
  • excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • culinary degree or relevant certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Plans daily menus for community and special events
  • schedules and coordinates the work of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen employees to ensure food preparation is economical, technically correct, and within budgeted labor cost goals
  • ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas at all times
  • safeguards food preparation employees by implementing training to increase their knowledge about safety, sanitation, and accident prevention principles
  • develops standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which help assure consistently high quality and minimize food costs
  • exercises portion control for all items served and assists in establishing menu selling prices
  • ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high quality standards
  • controls food and payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability
  • evaluates food products to ensure quality standards are consistently attained
