Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years management experience in food service environment preferably senior living
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certified or willing to complete course within 60 days
- Interest and enjoyment in working with seniors
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and fast-paced environment
- Proficient organizational skills
- Must be mobile and able to move intermittently
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to push, pull, squat, bend, reach and stretch
- Must tolerate extended periods of walking and standing
- Weekend and evening work as required
- Hands on cooking required
- Background clearances required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years management experience in food service environment preferably in senior living
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of budget management and inventory control
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and internet
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to make independent decisions and remain calm under pressure
- Ability to work effectively with employees, residents, and families during stressful situations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Background clearances as required by government regulations
Job Duties
- Work with the Executive Director to plan and oversee community dining services and initiate action plans
- Coordinate menus for activity and marketing functions by consulting relevant departments
- Control food cost and food waste while maintaining high quality food for resident satisfaction
- Perform shift work including weekends and evenings when necessary to ensure coverage and quality checks
- Conduct monthly food inventory and ensure inventory control
- Manage and control monthly expenditures to align with budget
- Conduct daily sanitation and workstation inspections
- Engage with residents during meals through personal table touches
- Maintain dietary records and communicate changes to the team
- Order food and supplies within budgetary guidelines maintaining quality and variety
- Assist in meal preparation and cover for cooks or chefs during absences
- Prepare staff schedules for kitchen and front of house
- Assist in menu planning to meet residents’ nutritional needs and satisfaction
- Monitor and maintain kitchen cleaning schedules meeting MBK standards
- Keep accurate records of coaching and disciplinary actions
- Participate in the sales process of potential residents as instructed
- Plan menus and menu cycles according to cultural preferences and dietary guidelines
- Adjust recipes for appropriate yield
- Monitor food quality, consistency, temperature, portion control, and presentation
- Observe staff preparing and garnishing foods ensuring standards
- Cook, carve meats and prepare dishes
- Order and verify food and chemical supplies
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits
- Oversee safe food handling and loss prevention
- Select, schedule and conduct training programs for staff
- Monitor monthly spending and explain variances to ensure budget compliance
- Adhere to MBK policies and procedures
- Uphold residents’ rights and report incidents promptly
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and operations
- Promote teamwork in service delivery
- Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director
