Job Requirements

  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree or diploma
  • Associate's degree or equivalent education/experience in culinary arts
  • Chef certification or formal culinary training
  • Serve Safe Certified
  • Certified Dietary Manager
  • Minimum of five years recent relevant experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office and specialized food service software
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret data and instructions in various forms

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in culinary arts or equivalent education/experience
  • Chef certification or formal culinary training
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Certified Dietary Manager credential
  • Five years of recent relevant experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff in achieving departmental goals
  • Strong instructional skills in culinary activities
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant food service applications such as CBORD Food Service Suite and Micros
  • Knowledge of HACCP guidelines and safe food handling procedures
  • Experience with marketing and promotion in food service
  • Ability to manage profit and loss responsibility and accountability

Job Duties

  • Provide overall management and direction to food production and storage operations
  • Lead and support planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling daily food production functions
  • Participate with supervisors and managers in programmatic, operational changes, and cost-saving initiatives
  • Hire, schedule, and evaluate staff under direct supervision
  • Perform sanitation, safety, quality, and security checks to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and regulations
  • Monitor and supervise all food service areas in absence of higher management
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to plan special functions and menus for cafeterias, catering, and patient meal services
