Job Requirements

  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • SS-Serve Save Certification
  • Certified Dietary Manager credential
  • Five years of recent relevant experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to interpret written and oral instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage scheduling and staff evaluations
  • Willingness to work variable days and every other weekend
  • Ability to maintain a safe food environment including proper cleaning procedures and equipment use

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent education/experience
  • Chef certification
  • Formal culinary training
  • Five years of recent relevant experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Knowledge of food production and delivery processes
  • Customer service skills
  • Marketing and promotion skills
  • Shared profit and loss responsibility experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant food service software such as CBORD Food Service Suite
  • Knowledge of HACCP guidelines and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Provide overall management and direction to food production and storage operations
  • Lead and support staff in planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling daily food production functions
  • Participate with supervisors and managers in planning and standardizing operational changes and cost-saving initiatives
  • Hire, schedule, and evaluate staff under direct supervision
  • Perform sanitation, safety, quality, and security checks to ensure compliance with department standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and supervise all food service areas in the absence of higher management
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors in planning special functions and menus for cafeterias, catering, and patient meal services
