Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • ability to work minimum 45-50 hours per week
  • ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal
  • experience using culinary compliance and inventory management software
  • manual dexterity for handling kitchen tools and equipment
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to train and manage kitchen staff
  • ability to plan menus and manage culinary budgets
  • ability to attend special events as required
  • willingness to transfer to other worksites as needed

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups and individuals
  • knowledge of compliance software
  • experience with inventory management software
  • proficiency with Greek House Chefs App
  • skill in using commercial kitchen equipment such as blenders, broilers, convection ovens, cutlery, deep fryers, and mandolin slicers
  • strong coordination and monitoring skills
  • active listening and critical thinking abilities
  • sound judgment and decision making
  • ability to communicate with chefs and students
  • knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • teaching and negotiation skills
  • service orientation and social perceptiveness

Job Duties

  • Ensures overall health of the account is positive and in good standing
  • plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities
  • modifies menus or creates new ones that meet quality standards
  • recruits and manages kitchen staff
  • purchases and orders food supplies while managing budget
  • manages employee schedules and hours
  • manages the GHC App
  • ensures overall cleanliness of the kitchen meets and exceeds health and equipment cleaning standards
  • makes periodic inspections of units to observe quality of food preparation and service
  • coordinates all training activities for kitchen and other employees
  • follows training manual procedures for equipment item requests
  • develops recipes and portion specifications according to standards, nutritional needs, product specs, and budget
  • creates and submits menu two weeks ahead to GHC App for approval
  • submits budget weekly on time via GHC App
  • checks weekly app review reports with Campus Manager
  • schedules and attends monthly food committee reviews
  • maintains pleasant appearance and clean uniform
  • works minimum 45-50 hours weekly
  • receives trucks and checks for quantity and quality
  • keeps availability open for up to 3 special events per semester and plans these events
  • maintains positive professional relationships with vendors, directs, and clients
  • works with management to establish and implement account specific service procedures
  • monitors schedule and time management responsibilities of self and staff
  • demonstrates strong knowledge of GHC Handbook
  • transfers to other worksites as needed
  • performs other duties as assigned
