Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Serv Safe certification required
  • Valid food handler's card if required
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to manage kitchen operations
  • Must be able to stand and walk for over two-thirds of the work time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work 45-50 hours weekly
  • Availability for up to three special events per semester
  • Knowledge and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Ability to use culinary and inventory software
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Must maintain a professional appearance
  • Willingness to work in varied temperature environments
  • Ability to transfer to other worksites if needed

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience preferred
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Serv Safe certification within first available class
  • Valid food handler's card if required by state
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals in English
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Effective public speaking and one-on-one communication
  • Knowledge of compliance and inventory management software
  • Proficiency with Greek House Chefs App
  • Skilled in use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Strong coordination and monitoring skills
  • Active listening and critical thinking abilities
  • Good judgment and decision-making
  • Ability to communicate with chefs and students
  • Ability to judge quality and quantity of food items
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Capability in instructing and negotiating
  • Service orientation and social perceptiveness

Job Duties

  • Ensures overall health of the account is positive and in good standing
  • Plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities
  • Modifies menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
  • Recruits and manages kitchen staff
  • Purchases and orders food supplies while managing budget
  • Manages employee's schedules and hours
  • Manages the GHC App
  • Ensures overall cleanliness of kitchen meets and exceeds GHC health standards
  • Conducts periodic inspections of food preparation, service, and cleanliness
  • Coordinates all training activities for kitchen and service employees
  • Follows proper training manual procedures for equipment requests
  • Develops recipes and portion specifications per GHC standards
  • Creates and submits menus two weeks ahead for approval
  • Submits budget timely via GHC App
  • Checks weekly app reviews with Campus Manager
  • Schedules and attends monthly food committee reviews
  • Maintains professional appearance
  • Works minimum 45-50 hours weekly
  • Receives and checks truck deliveries
  • Plans and attends up to 3 special events per semester
  • Maintains positive vendor and client relationships
  • Establishes and implements account-specific service procedures
  • Monitors time management for self and staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge of GHC Handbook
  • Transfers to other worksites as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
