- ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, reach above shoulders and crawl
- ability to shovel and spread salt or sand on snow
- ability to walk or stand majority of shift
- ability to wear protective clothing and handle infectious and hazardous waste
- ability to safely operate power cleaning equipment and ladders up to 20 feet

Job Duties
- Clean furniture and carpets in rooms, hallways, stairs, and offices using power equipment
- clean and maintain floor surfaces with dry and wet mops
- refinish floors including machine scrubbing and/or stripping floors and apply floor finish
- operate various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical
- notify appropriate person of safety hazards and equipment needing repair
- clean equipment, cart, and service closet daily
- assist in cleaning emergency spills as requested
- use chemicals, cleaning products and equipment for their intended purpose to maintain a safe, cost-effective environment
- ensure all cleaning supplies are labeled and reference Material Safety Data Sheets as necessary
- set up rooms for meetings and deliver audio visual equipment
- clean patient care areas, public/private restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, elevators, and stairwells
- perform scheduled terminal and project cleaning in surgical areas
- clean all environmental surfaces including ceilings and vents, walls, doors, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, and windows
- dust and mop floors in patient and exam rooms, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, and other areas of the facility
- gather and dispose recyclables, trash, and medical waste
- collect hazardous trash following infection control guidelines
- sort, stock and deliver linens
- gather and prepare soiled linen for transportation
- inventory linens, cleaning supplies and paper supplies and order additional as needed
- fill and clean supply dispensers
- replace cubicle drapes and window coverings
- clean and prepare dismissal and transfer units and certain patient care equipment
- distribute non-medical supplies to specific areas
- report any mechanical failures or unsafe conditions to supervisor
