Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- ability to follow and understand verbal communications and written procedures required
- ability to verbally communicate effectively
- must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English
- physical ability to perform light work including lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally and frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs
- ability to perform walking, standing, climbing ladders, pushing, and pulling
- manual dexterity to move hands skillfully
- ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, and see
- exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals, and hazardous materials
- ability to wear protective or safety equipment
- physical presence onsite required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Daily cleans assigned areas following 8 step cleaning procedure or other procedures as appropriate
- cleans occupied and discharged patient rooms
- washes walls, doors/door frames, ceilings, patient room furnishings, windows
- refinish and burnish floors if required
- dusts, damp mops, vacuums floor areas as applicable
- vacuums carpets and spot-cleans carpet
- collects waste and routinely cleans waste receptacles
- cleans compactor area
- collects soiled linen and distributes clean linen
- moves and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion
- requests cleaning supplies and equipment as needed
- returns unused supplies to housekeeping closet
- cleans carts and equipment and ensures all items are replaced orderly
- operates various mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment such as buffers, wringers, scrubbers, and vacuums
- reports broken furniture or equipment repair needs immediately to supervisors daily
- cleans and services building areas including medication storage areas according to established procedures
- maintains secured access to medication storage areas and alerts nursing or clinical supervisor if medications are found in unsecured areas
- provides training for new hires and others on the units
- maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards as outlined in performance evaluation
- performs compliance requirements as outlined in the employee handbook
- adheres to DCH behavioral standards and policies
- uses electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet
- performs all other assigned duties
