Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum six months of related experience preferred
- ability to work Monday through Friday from 5am to 1:30pm
- ability to stand, walk, and perform physical cleaning tasks for extended periods
- ability to use computers or other devices for documentation and communication
- adherence to safety, infection control, and HIPAA standards
- willingness to respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests
- good communication and teamwork skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- minimum six months of related experience preferred
- can demonstrate effective use of computers and/or movable devices for job performance activities preferred
- knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
- understanding of safe handling and disposal of medical waste
- ability to follow safety and HIPAA guidelines
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- certification in Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred
Job Duties
- Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas including daily occupied and discharge/transfer, clinical, ancillary, and support services
- maintain assigned equipment/cleaning carts for cleanliness and coordinate repairs as needed
- keep stock and restock supplies and equipment
- remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas while identifying proper waste stream handling such as regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous
- take corrective action for unsatisfactory cleanliness in any hospital area, including litter removal in public spaces
- utilize bed tracking systems like EPIC to identify cleaning needs and respond to emergency spills or requests
- recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
- follow all infection prevention practices including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of PPE
- perform floor care and maintenance including cleaning stairwells, elevators, and hanging curtains
- respectfully listen to viewpoints and ideas of others
