Job Requirements
- ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- willingness to work third shift including weekends and holidays
- capability to stand and walk for at least 75% of the shift
- ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights ranging from 1 to 50 pounds
- ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb stairs frequently
- ability to operate motor vehicles and equipment when necessary
- compliance with hospital safety and sanitation guidelines
- willingness to obtain CHEST certification within 6 months of hire
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
- CHEST certification required within 6 months of hire

- physical ability to perform required cleaning tasks
Job Duties
- inspects assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and makes proper corrections
- follows guidelines and job standards established by department management and hospital to ensure facility cleanliness
- cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, halls and other interior furnishings using appropriate cleaning supplies
- sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs and dusts floors of assigned areas
- transports, removes and disposes of soiled linen, trash and bio-medical waste appropriately
- labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers
- maintains adequate stock of supplies and transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas
- operates, cleans and maintains equipment, including carts and industrial vacuums
- reports concerns to ensure equipment is functional and ready for use
- fosters and maintains positive working relationships with patients, guests and caregivers
- participates in quality improvement activities to improve the hospital environment
- reports needed repairs and services to hospital facilities
- performs special cleaning projects and various types of floor care as needed
- supports the vision, mission and values of the organization
- supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles of continuous improvement
- provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests
- conducts all activities with professionalism and confidentiality
- delivers customer service and patient care in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
- performs additional duties of similar complexity as assigned
