Job Requirements
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- able to stand and walk for 75% or more of the shift
- can lift, carry, push or pull 1-10 pounds routinely
- able to grasp and squeeze
- able to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and lift/carry/push/pull 11-25 pounds frequently
- occasionally able to climb ladders or step stools and lift/carry/push/pull 25-50 pounds
- able to operate a motor vehicle
- capable of using clear and audible speaking voice and hearing normal speech
- able to perform keyboard operation rarely
- exposure to heat, cold, wet/slippery areas, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solutions, and uneven surfaces occasionally
- must comply with blood-borne pathogen exposure risk protocols
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- CHEST certification required within 6 months of hire
- prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
- ability to operate cleaning equipment
- knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures
- capability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- commitment to teamwork and customer service
- ability to adhere to established job standards
Job Duties
- Inspects assigned areas for cleanliness and makes necessary corrections
- follows guidelines and job standards for facility sanitation
- performs cleaning tasks including cleaning toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, doors, stairways, and halls
- sweeps, mops, scrubs, and dusts floors in assigned areas
- transports, removes, and disposes of soiled linen, trash, and bio-medical waste
- maintains adequate stock of supplies and transports custodial equipment
- operates and maintains cleaning equipment
- fosters positive working relationships with patients, guests, and caregivers
- participates in quality improvement activities
- reports needed repairs and services
- performs special cleaning projects and floor care
- provides and maintains a safe environment
- complies with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
- delivers customer service and patient care in a courteous, timely, and efficient manner
