Job Requirements
- Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- capability to lift, carry, push or pull weights ranging from 1 to 50 pounds
- ability to perform bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and climbing stairs
- capability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment
- ability to follow safety protocols
- willingness to work third (night) shift and relief shifts
- ability to comply with hospital policies and procedures
- no required prior experience but preferred janitorial or housekeeping background
- CHEST certification required within 6 months of hire

- ability to follow cleaning standards and protocols

- understanding of patient safety and hospital sanitation requirements
Job Duties
- Inspect assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and make proper corrections
- follow guidelines and job standards established by department management and hospital
- perform cleaning tasks as described in the task list
- clean toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, halls and other interior furnishings
- sweep, clean, mop, scrub and dust floors of assigned areas
- transport, remove and dispose of soiled linen, trash and bio-medical waste appropriately
- remove empty boxes and place in designated areas
- label and remove infectious waste bags and containers
- maintain stock of supplies and transport custodial supplies and equipment
- operate, clean and maintain equipment including carts and industrial vacuums
- report equipment concerns
- foster and maintain positive working relationships
- participate in quality improvement activities
- report needed repairs
- perform special cleaning projects
- may perform floor care
- support vision, mission and values of the organization
- support Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles
- provide and maintain a safe environment
- conduct activities with professionalism and confidentiality
- comply with laws, regulations and policies
- deliver customer service and patient care in a timely and accurate manner
- perform additional duties as assigned
