Job Requirements
- Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Capable of standing and walking for 75 percent or more of the shift
- Able to lift, carry, push or pull 1-10 pounds continually
- Capable of sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting 11-25 pounds frequently
- Occasional climbing of ladder or step-stool and lifting 25-50 pounds
- Able to operate motor vehicles occasionally
- Ability to use clear and audible speaking voice and hear normal speech
- Knowledge of blood-borne pathogen exposure and safe handling
- Must achieve CHEST certification within 6 months of hire
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
- Able to achieve CHEST certification within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to maintaining patient and caregiver safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Inspect assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and make proper corrections
- Follow guidelines and job standards for facility cleanliness and sanitation
- Perform cleaning tasks including cleaning toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, and halls
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and dust floors
- Transport, remove, and dispose of soiled linen, trash, and bio-medical waste appropriately
- Label and remove infectious waste bags and containers
- Maintain adequate stock of supplies and operate cleaning equipment
- Foster positive working relationships with patients, guests, and caregivers
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities
- Report needed repairs and perform special cleaning projects
- Support organizational vision, mission, and values
- Comply with laws, policies, and ethical standards
- Provide timely and efficient customer service
- May perform additional duties as assigned
