Job Requirements

  • Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Capable of standing and walking for 75 percent or more of the shift
  • Able to lift, carry, push or pull 1-10 pounds continually
  • Capable of sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting 11-25 pounds frequently
  • Occasional climbing of ladder or step-stool and lifting 25-50 pounds
  • Able to operate motor vehicles occasionally
  • Ability to use clear and audible speaking voice and hear normal speech
  • Knowledge of blood-borne pathogen exposure and safe handling
  • Must achieve CHEST certification within 6 months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
  • Able to achieve CHEST certification within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining patient and caregiver safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Inspect assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and make proper corrections
  • Follow guidelines and job standards for facility cleanliness and sanitation
  • Perform cleaning tasks including cleaning toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, and halls
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and dust floors
  • Transport, remove, and dispose of soiled linen, trash, and bio-medical waste appropriately
  • Label and remove infectious waste bags and containers
  • Maintain adequate stock of supplies and operate cleaning equipment
  • Foster positive working relationships with patients, guests, and caregivers
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities
  • Report needed repairs and perform special cleaning projects
  • Support organizational vision, mission, and values
  • Comply with laws, policies, and ethical standards
  • Provide timely and efficient customer service
  • May perform additional duties as assigned
