Job Requirements
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment required to perform the job safely
- Ability to stand and walk continually
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 1-10 pounds continually
- Ability to grasp and squeeze
- Ability to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and lift 11-25 pounds frequently
- Ability to occasionally climb ladder/step-stool and lift 25-50 pounds
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle occasionally
- Ability to use clear and audible speaking voice and hear normal speech levels
- Must obtain CHEST certification within 6 months of hire
- Ability to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- Willingness to participate in Quality Improvement activities
- Commitment to support the organization’s mission, vision and values
- Must maintain professional conduct and confidentiality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
- CHEST certification required within 6 months of hire
- Ability to follow cleaning standards and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff
- Capability to work as part of a team
- Good physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Job Duties
- Inspect assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and make proper corrections to ensure sanitation
- Follow guidelines and job standards established by department management and hospital
- Perform cleaning tasks as described in the task list
- Clean toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, halls, and other interior furnishings using appropriate supplies and procedures
- Sweep, clean, mop, scrub and dust floors of assigned areas
- Transport, remove, and dispose of soiled linen, trash and biomedical waste appropriately
- Operate, clean and maintain equipment, carts, and industrial vacuums
- Report concerns to ensure equipment is functional
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with patients, guests and caregivers
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities
- Report needed repairs and/or services to hospital facilities
- Perform special cleaning projects as needed
- Perform various types of floor care
- Support the vision, mission and values of the organization
- Support Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles
- Provide and maintain a safe environment
- Conduct activities with professionalism and confidentiality
- Comply with laws, policies and ethical standards
- Deliver customer service in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
- Perform additional duties as assigned
