Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for 75 percent or more of the time
- able to lift, carry, push, or pull 1-10 pounds continually
- able to perform sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting 11-25 pounds frequently
- capable of climbing ladders or step-stools and lifting 25-50 pounds occasionally
- able to operate motor vehicles
- must wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- ability to use clear and audible voice and to hear normal speech levels
- ability to perform keyboard operations rarely
- occasional exposure to heat, cold, wet or slippery conditions, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solutions, and uneven surfaces
- compliance with blood-borne pathogen exposure precautions
- ability to work a 40-hour week with variable schedules including every other weekend and holidays
- second shift availability required
- must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- equivalent education and experience considered
- CHEST certification required within 6 months of hire
- certification coursework provided by employer
- prior professional janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred
- knowledge of cleaning supplies and procedures
- ability to operate cleaning equipment
- strong attention to detail
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Inspects assigned areas during shift for cleanliness and makes proper corrections to ensure sanitation
- follows guidelines and job standards to ensure facility cleanliness and sanitary compliance
- performs detailed cleaning tasks including toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, walls, furniture, fixtures, doors, stairways, halls, and other interior furnishings
- sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs, and dusts floors of assigned areas
- transports, removes, and disposes of soiled linen, trash, and bio-medical waste appropriately
- labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers
- maintains adequate stock of supplies and transports custodian supplies and equipment
- operates, cleans, and maintains equipment such as carts and industrial vacuums and reports concerns
- fosters positive working relationships with patients, guests, and caregivers
- participates in quality improvement activities
- reports needed repairs and services
- performs special cleaning projects and floor care as assigned
- supports the organization’s vision, mission, and values in all respects
- supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) continuous improvement principles
- provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests
- conducts all activities with professionalism and confidentiality
- delivers customer service and patient care in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner
- performs additional duties as assigned
