Job Requirements
- ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally
- ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- fingerprint clearance card required at time of hire and maintained for duration of employment
- ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
Job Qualifications
- previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- additional related education and/or experience preferred
- ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
- ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
Job Duties
- perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- empty hampers and transports of soiled linen
- empty trash containers and remove all trash including medical waste containers
- inventory, restock and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap located in all assigned areas
- maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and notify appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
- possibly perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- respond to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors
