Job Description
Banner Staffing Services is an integral part of Banner Health, one of the nation's leading health systems, renowned for its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves. Banner Health operates numerous hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities across the United States, offering a wide range of medical services and career opportunities. As an organization, Banner Health is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and personal development while emphasizing patient care and community health. Banner Staffing Services (BSS) provides Registry and Per Diem employment opportunities within Banner Health, enabling healthcare professionals to work flexible schedules and gain valuable experience across various settings. These positions are ideal for those looking to start or advance their careers in healthcare. The staffing model allows employees to work hours that align with their availability while still being eligible to apply for regular full-time or part-time positions within Banner Health at any time.
This specific opportunity is located in Casa Grande, Arizona, within the Facilities, Environmental Services, and Culinary department. The role offers varied shifts, typically between 6:00 am and 2:30 pm, Sunday through Saturday, with the possibility of additional shifts being offered for call-outs or increased demand. The position does not guarantee a fixed number of hours but generally expects 24-40 hours a week. Importantly, this role requires previous experience in Environmental Services within a hospital setting as it is not open to candidates new to this service area.
The primary responsibility for this position is to maintain cleanliness and safety within patient rooms and designated areas, working as part of the environmental services team to help ensure a sterile, safe, and visually appealing environment. The role involves comprehensive cleaning duties such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing, adhering strictly to departmental procedures and hospital standards. Team members also manage waste disposal, including handling regular trash, soiled linen, and medical waste such as sharps. They are also responsible for restocking supplies like toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap to maintain facility operations smoothly.
In addition to routine cleaning, employees must care for departmental equipment, ensuring its proper use and reporting any repair needs promptly to minimize disruption. This role also occasionally involves special cleaning projects, including window and wall washing or dealing with heavily soiled furnishings. A significant part of this job is responding courteously and effectively to questions or requests from patients, hospital staff, and visitors, striving to exceed customer service satisfaction goals.
Given the critical nature of working within healthcare environments, the position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including the correct handling and mixing of cleaning chemicals, as detailed on material safety data sheets. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team are essential. Certain employment locations necessitate possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and compliance with additional background checks and drug screenings for the safety of all involved.
While the Registry/Per Diem position does not offer medical benefits and guarantees no specific number of working hours, it does include competitive wages, paid orientation, flexible scheduling options, weekly pay, and access to a 403(b) pre-tax retirement plan. Employees can also benefit from wellness programs, employee assistance resources, discount entertainment tickets, and shopping discounts.
Overall, this role is an excellent opportunity for skilled environmental services professionals looking to contribute meaningfully to patient care environments while enjoying a flexible and supportive work arrangement within a respected healthcare system.
