Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English
- ability to use personal protective equipment and housekeeping supplies and equipment safely
- knowledge of OSHA and JACHO standards
- ability to perform physically demanding tasks involving exposure to chemical and biological hazards
- ability to follow safety procedures while operating cleaning equipment
- availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week on AM shift
- willingness to follow detailed cleaning protocols and work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred
- four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred
- ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English
- skilled in use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment
- familiar with OSHA and JACHO standards
- knowledgeable in technical process procedures and financial management tools
- problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- effective time management
- basic computer skills
Job Duties

- properly disposes of soiled linens and medical waste
- removes trash and relines containers using standard precautions
- cleans all trash cans and utility rooms
- completes hard floor and carpet care with proper documentation
- cleans baseboards, corners, and edges
- assists team members to ensure complete area cleanliness
- cleans and returns equipment to designated areas
- secures gated areas
- sweeps and mops patient area floors
- cleans and disinfects sinks, mirrors, and water fountains
- replenishes restroom supplies
- performs isolation and transfer/discharge cleaning
- polishes furniture and fixtures
- moves furniture on wheels
- follows safety and security practices
- maintains assigned equipment
- mixes and disposes chemicals safely
- reports repair needs
- spot cleans walls
- cleans patient refrigerators and ice machines
- checks OR suites for cleanliness and supply levels
- mops hallways and lounges
- cleans acute recovery and anesthesia rooms
- terminates surgery suites and cleans equipment
- restocks scrub supplies
- assists in patient positioning
- replenishes supplies
- cleans trash and linen areas according to protocol
- empties and cleans trash receptacles
- ensures trash disposal adheres to hospital policy
- cleans offices including medicine cabinets and food service areas
- uses caution signs during floor cleaning
- operates and maintains equipment
- labels spray bottles
- avoids obstructing traffic or exits
- cleans janitor's closets and other assigned areas
- performs other duties as assigned
