Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in environmental services preferred
- Familiarity with hospital hygiene standards
- Ability to follow safety and infection control protocols
- Effective communication skills
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks and lift/move equipment

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred
- Four years of environmental service experience in an acute care healthcare environment preferred
- Ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English
- Skills in the use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment
- Familiarity with OSHA and JACHO standards
- Knowledge of technical process procedures and financial management tools
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management capabilities
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Clean all assigned areas to maintain a safe and aseptic environment
- Properly dispose of soiled linens and trash using standard precautions
- Handle medical waste following the hospital's management plan
- Deliver and replenish linens with strings removed
- Clean trash cans in utility rooms and outside areas
- Dispose of confidential papers securely and pick up on schedule
- Perform floor care including hard floors and carpet cleaning with documentation
- Clean baseboards, corners, and edges to prevent dust buildup
- Assist other team members to ensure comprehensive cleaning before leaving an area
- Clean equipment and return to designated areas at shift end
- Secure gated areas during work
- Sweep and mop floors in patient areas
- Disinfect sinks, mirrors, and water fountains
- Replenish and deodorize supplies such as toilet tissue and soap daily
- Perform isolation and transfer/discharge cleaning tasks
- Polish furniture and metal fixtures
- Move furniture on wheels as needed
- Follow safety and security practices at all times
- Maintain assigned cleaning equipment
- Mix and dispose of chemicals as directed
- Report repair needs promptly
- Spot clean walls and clean patient refrigerators and ice machines as assigned
- Check operating room suites, furniture, supplies, and cleanliness daily
- Mop hallways, lounges, scrub sinks, workrooms, and storage rooms
- Clean sinks, hoppers, and counters in recovery and staff areas
- Perform surgery suite termination cleaning including equipment, under-table areas, and high dusting
- Restock supplies like masks, scrub solutions, hats, and shoe covers
- Assist with patient positioning and moving when needed
- Replace trash liners and clean receptacles properly avoiding contamination
- Transport trash safely to designated disposal areas
- Clean offices including windows, food service areas, and utility rooms
- Use caution signs when mopping
- Follow safety procedures for equipment use
- Clean janitor's closet and related storage
- Perform other assigned duties as directed by the Manager of Environmental Services
