Job Requirements

  • a high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred
  • ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English
  • skills with the use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment
  • familiar with OSHA and JACHO standards
  • knowledge of technical process procedures and financial management tools
  • problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • effective time management
  • basic computer skills
  • willing to work under exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials and waste
  • able to work near moving mechanical parts, wet and humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration
  • occasionally work in outside weather conditions
  • comfortable in moderate noise levels

Job Qualifications

  • a high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred
  • four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred

Job Duties

  • is courteous and displays a positive attitude while communicating with others
  • maintains confidentiality regarding information pertaining to patients and employees
  • handles difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner
  • promotes good public relations with patients, staff and visitors
  • properly disposes of soiled linens using standard precautions
  • removes trash and re-lines containers properly utilizing standard precautions
  • properly disposes of medical waste following the medical waste management plan
  • delivers linens to assigned areas with all strings removed
  • cleans trash cans in soiled utility rooms and outside entrances
  • properly disposes of confidential papers
  • completes hard floor care and carpet care thoroughly and documents properly
  • cleans baseboards, corners, and edges with no dust build-up
  • assists team members to ensure entire area is clean
  • cleans equipment at end of shift and returns to designated area
  • secures gated areas at all times
