Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred
  • ability to use personal protective equipment and housekeeping equipment
  • knowledge of OSHA and JACHO standards
  • good communication skills in English
  • ability to follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals properly
  • physical ability to handle chemical exposure and work in wet or humid conditions
  • willingness to work full-time 40 hours per week
  • compliance with hospital policies and procedures
  • ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred
  • four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred
  • ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English
  • skilled in use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment
  • familiar with OSHA and JACHO standards
  • knowledge of technical process procedures and financial management tools
  • problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • effective time management skills
  • basic computer skills required

Job Duties

  • clean assigned areas aseptically and maintain orderliness
  • dispose of soiled linens and medical waste properly
  • clean and reline trash containers and patient refrigerators
  • perform hard floor and carpet care
  • restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and deodorizer
  • clean surgical and patient care areas according to protocols
  • mop floors and clean sinks, mirrors, and water fountains
  • perform isolation and transfer cleaning tasks
  • assist with moving and positioning patients when needed
  • use appropriate safety and security practices
  • maintain cleaning equipment and report needed repairs
  • adhere to customer service standards and confidentiality
  • help maintain trash compactor and linen areas
  • clean offices and food service areas
  • use caution signs when mopping
  • follow safety procedures when operating equipment
  • clean janitor's closet and sanitize tools
