Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years of experience in environmental services in an acute care environment preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Knowledge of OSHA and JACHO standards
- Capability to use personal protective equipment and cleaning equipment safely
- Ability to follow technical cleaning processes and hospital policies
- Physical ability to handle exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, and varying environmental conditions
- Basic computer literacy
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred
- Minimum four years of environmental services experience in an acute care setting preferred
- Ability to communicate and understand English oral and written instructions
- Familiarity with OSHA and JACHO standards
- Skills in handling personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management skills
Job Duties
- Clean all assigned areas aseptically
- Dispose of soiled linens and medical waste properly
- Remove trash and reline containers following standard precautions
- Deliver and manage linens with all strings removed
- Perform hard floor and carpet care and document tasks accordingly
- Clean patient refrigerators, ice machines, and replenish supplies
- Assist in isolation, transfer, and discharge cleaning as required
- Mop floors, clean sinks, mirrors, and water fountains
- Polish furniture, doors, and stainless steel surfaces
- Clean trash cans, utility rooms, and outside entrances
- Maintain and clean equipment and janitor’s closet
- Secure gated areas and report repair needs to supervisor
- Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment
- Perform OR suite cleaning including equipment and restocking supplies
- Assist with positioning and moving patients when needed
- Dispose of confidential papers and maintain trash compactor area cleanliness
- Clean food service areas and office spaces thoroughly
- Use caution signs during floor mopping
- Return equipment in operable condition and label spray bottles properly
- Perform other duties as assigned by Environmental Services Manager
