Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation management event management marketing public relations hospitality or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possession of appropriate valid driver's license
  • Must maintain an insurable driving record
  • Crowd Management Certification within 6 months of hire
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation management event management marketing public relations hospitality or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in event planning and coordination preferably in a municipal or non-profit setting
  • Strong analytical skills including research and data interpretation and the ability to write formal recommendations
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic mathematical and budget-related skills including advanced accounting and statistics
  • Proficiency in computer software including database creation maintenance desktop publishing presentation spreadsheet and word-processing
  • Facilitation skills including curriculum agenda development marketing and group decision-making
  • Human relations and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership including strategic planning goal-setting and assessment
  • Project management including organization coordination and goal accomplishment
  • Working knowledge of public sector administration
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Supervisory skills including motivation delegation and evaluation
  • Excellent time management skills handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Job Duties

  • Assist in developing event plans and logistics including gathering vendor information and supporting budget tracking
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless event execution
  • Coordinate with the City Communications Department for event promotion and marketing efforts including creating promotional materials and utilizing communication channels
  • Oversee on-site event management including setup breakdown and troubleshooting
  • Provide direction to volunteers during events as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations permits and city ordinances
  • Evaluate event success through post-event analysis and feedback collection
  • Maintain accurate records of event details expenses and attendance
  • Work the days and hours necessary to perform assigned responsibilities including availability during rentals and events
  • Maintain punctuality in attendance and deadlines
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
