Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience
  • minimum two years experience in venue operations management or related internships
  • obtain CPR, first aid, and AED certification within one year
  • acquire ServSafe food safety certification within one year
  • possess valid South Carolina Class "D" driver's license
  • ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed
  • capacity to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in hospitality or event management or related experience
  • two years of experience in venue operations management including internships or practicum
  • CPR, first aid, and AED certification within one year of employment
  • ServSafe food safety certification within one year of employment
  • valid South Carolina Class "D" driver's license
  • knowledge of special event management principles and best practices
  • knowledge of trends and developments in operations and emergency management
  • ability to interpret and apply laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations related to city events
  • ability to respond to and resolve difficult citizen inquiries and complaints
  • practical math skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and measurements
  • ability to conceptualize and develop new or improved procedures and techniques
  • effective independent judgement and professional thinking
  • strong time management skills to meet deadlines
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment
  • ability to operate credit card machines, POS, audio-visual equipment, vehicles, golf carts, projectors, and two-way radios

Job Duties

  • assist in implementing comprehensive logistics for all events
  • participate in meetings with event leaders, vendors, and suppliers to review event plans, layouts, and equipment needs
  • serve as the secondary event lead on-site by organizing, training, assigning tasks, and supervising event staff, interns, and volunteers
  • coordinate and assist with event logistics including setup and breakdown of equipment such as tents, tables, chairs, signs, banners, and audio-visual equipment
  • proactively evaluate operational infrastructure to troubleshoot issues
  • assist in organizing and managing special event vendor load-in and load-out
  • monitor vendors, sponsors, and public compliance with event policies and procedures
  • assist in planning, coordinating, and evaluating assigned event logistics including reserving locations via booking platforms
  • coordinate operations and logistics such as event layouts, linens and rental orders, staff and contractor scheduling, A/V needs, custom menus, food and beverage service times, client and staff relationships, and proposal and invoice preparation
  • coordinate all aspects of the Finlay Park Saturday Market event series including activities, chef demonstrations, food trucks, vendors, and community partners
  • develop and monitor event budgets
  • coordinate all food and beverage operations including deliveries, inventory management, and kitchen team participation
  • enforce compliance with city business license and liability insurance requirements for vendors
  • assist in managing venue operations ensuring cleanliness and meeting deadlines
  • assist in retail and food service operations management including pricing, procurement, inventory, staffing, and restocking
