Job Requirements

  • Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in event management hospitality business or related field
  • minimum of 2 years relevant experience in event planning sales or related role
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • knowledge of University EMS Event Management System preferred
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to follow university policies procedures and guidelines
  • demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service
  • ability to lift medium weight objects up to 20 pounds
  • must reside in the state of California
  • satisfactory completion of background check

Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in event management hospitality business or related field
  • minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in event planning sales or a related role
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • proven track record of meeting sales targets and delivering successful events
  • strong organizational and time management abilities
  • ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances
  • ability to communicate effectively with a diverse cultural and ethnic campus community
  • preferred certification such as Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or similar

Job Duties

  • Coordinate all aspects of event planning including layout timeline and logistics
  • respond to incoming rental inquiries by email and phone
  • utilize University EMS Event Management System to schedule event spaces
  • negotiate basic terms of vendor agreements
  • ensure smooth operation and success of each event
  • maintain excellent communication with clients and vendors
  • work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required by event schedules
