Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience or training
  • Thorough knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and public relations
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including political acumen
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Experience providing excellent donor stewardship
  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment, supervision, and motivation
  • Skill in decision making and problem resolution
  • Preferred knowledge of crowd management and safety protocols
  • Ability to complete large volume of diverse tasks efficiently
  • Experience maintaining productivity despite frequent interruptions.

  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and supervision
  • Familiarity with budget management and compliance
  • Preferred knowledge of crowd management, crowd safety protocols, security, and emergency procedures related to events.

Job Duties

  • Ensure smooth-running, effective events including timely problem resolution
  • Schedule and organize departmental-sponsored events
  • Partner with department staff and faculty for budget, scope, and delegation of work for mid-to-large scale events
  • Initiate annual event planning and track regular events to ensure schedule and budget compliance
  • Provide year-end event summaries and recommendations
  • Coordinate event logistics including facilities, catering, vendors, technical support, and permits
  • Develop and distribute advertising materials and newsletters for classes and events
  • Manage donor relations including gift acknowledgements, solicitations, and alumni communications
  • Oversee student Event Assistants and provide training and resources for event coordinators
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing
  • Support special use scheduling and front office backup
  • Participate in professional development.
