The university is currently seeking an Event Specialist to join the team under the supervision of the senior director of campus and community engagement and conference services. This role is crucial to ensuring the flawless planning and execution of various events and conferences, combining creativity, organizational rigor, and impeccable attention to detail. The Event Specialist's responsibilities span from conceptualizing elevated, customized event strategies to managing budgets, securing appropriate venues, coordinating with vendors, and overseeing logistics on-site. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of professional experience in event planning
- Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days
- No more than three moving violations in the past 36 months
- No DWI or DUI convictions in the past five years
- Ability to manage complex timelines and multiple projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with donors, board members, community leaders, team members, and vendors
- Familiarity with event etiquette and protocol including safety
- Access to transportation
Job Qualifications

- At least 2 years of professional experience in event planning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of special event etiquette and diplomacy protocols
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, and Google Forms

Job Duties
- Plan and execute events and conferences from conception to completion
- Manage event budgets and secure venues
- Coordinate vendor logistics and oversee on-site event execution
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including campus partners and volunteers
- Prepare advance and on-site materials for events and conferences
- Assist with administrative duties such as notifications, agenda preparation, and coordination of meeting materials
- Act as a data-proofing agent for digital and printed marketing materials
