Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, marketing, or related field
  • minimum of five years of experience in event or facility management with supervisory responsibilities
  • ability to reside within Sacramento region or report regularly to a City physical worksite
  • capacity to work extended hours including nights and weekends
  • ability to work under time pressure
  • willingness to undergo Live Scan/fingerprinting and pre-employment medical examinations if required
  • submission of proof of education
  • effective communication skills
  • strong customer service orientation

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, marketing, or related field
  • five years of experience in event management or facility operations with supervisory responsibilities
  • knowledge of planning and servicing conventions, meetings, theatrical and entertainment events
  • understanding of facility operations and maintenance
  • familiarity with health, fire, safety, and emergency procedures
  • principles of administration, personnel management, budgeting, marketing, and promotion
  • proficiency with computer applications
  • excellent multitasking, contract negotiation, presentation, staff supervision, and prioritization skills
  • strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends
  • ability to work under time pressure

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct, and prioritize the work of the sales and booking department
  • coordinate event planning and implementation with catering, concessionaires, security, ushers, and other service providers
  • meet with facility users and prospective users to determine and meet needs
  • conduct site inspections and provide information on facility capabilities, services, and costs
  • collaborate with the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Center to promote the venues and downtown area
  • review and approve contracts ensuring accuracy of space and rental charges
  • supervise, train, and evaluate assigned personnel to ensure efficient operation
  • respond to client complaints and inquiries professionally
  • prepare reports, correspondence, contracts, and studies related to events and facility use
  • perform other related duties as assigned
