Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year of catering, banquet server, food and beverage industry or hospitality experience
  • experience in related operations or fast-paced customer service environments
  • prior work experience in a non-profit organization preferred
  • prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • possession of relevant certificates such as California Food Handler's Certificate, California Responsible Beverage Service Certificate, CPR/FA/AED Certificate preferred
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • ability to work a flexible schedule
  • willingness to wear uniform and non-slip safety shoes

Job Qualifications

  • prior lead or supervisory experience in a fast-paced customer-focused environment preferred
  • high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • certificates preferred including California Food Handler's Certificate, California Responsible Beverage Service Certificate, CPR/FA/AED Certificate
  • computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • ability to work a flexible schedule based on workload and deadlines
  • willingness to wear Salk-logoed uniform/apparel and non-slip safety shoes

Job Duties

  • Review banquet event orders to ensure understanding of event logistics, floorplans, linens, glassware, utensils, menu items, and service order
  • provide outstanding customer service to internal and external event organizers ensuring service delivery meets or exceeds expectations
  • execute all aspects of meeting room set-up and breakdown including preparation of rooms and service areas, setting tables, chairs, linens, drapes, and other necessary items
  • deliver, arrange, and serve food and beverages to guests in accordance with professional and event standards
  • clear tables and break down function rooms after events, cleaning and properly storing all furniture and equipment
  • resolve issues related to kitchen appliances, guest concerns, safety hazards, and direct on-call contract catering/vendor staff as needed
  • ensure compliance with hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety standards
  • maintain stocked inventory and equipment, coordinate purchasing and deliveries of consumables and refreshments, and perform basic maintenance on kitchen appliances
  • provide general administrative support such as filing, preparing collateral materials, and producing event signage
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
