Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • valid driver's license may be necessary
  • bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field
  • three to five years experience in event management
  • experience in higher education preferred
  • ability to manage multiple and larger scale programs/projects simultaneously
  • effective time management
  • highly organized and detail oriented
  • effective computer skills including MS Office suite
  • ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • ability to problem-solve and respond efficiently
  • ability to work some evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field
  • three to five years experience in event management
  • proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
  • effective time management and organizational skills
  • ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • experience working in higher education preferred
  • knowledge of event budgeting and contract negotiation
  • ability to supervise and coordinate volunteer staff
  • strong problem-solving capabilities
  • ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed

Job Duties

  • Plan, manage and execute logistics for a broad range of events
  • manage major meetings, receptions, and events
  • prepare event timelines, budgets and contingency plans
  • identify and secure event venues and vendors
  • negotiate contracts and agreements
  • coordinate with university departments and external vendors
  • recruit and supervise event staff and volunteers
  • monitor event preparation progress and expenditures
  • attend events and resolve on-site issues
  • maintain events calendar and analyze external event opportunities
  • prepare event evaluation reports and statistical summaries
  • conduct post-event reviews and implement improvements
  • develop best practices documentation for event delivery to enhance institute and university image
