Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- valid driver's license may be necessary
- bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field
- three to five years experience in event management
- experience in higher education preferred
- ability to manage multiple and larger scale programs/projects simultaneously
- effective time management
- highly organized and detail oriented
- effective computer skills including MS Office suite
- ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
- ability to problem-solve and respond efficiently
- ability to work some evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field
- three to five years experience in event management
- proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
- effective time management and organizational skills
- ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- experience working in higher education preferred
- knowledge of event budgeting and contract negotiation
- ability to supervise and coordinate volunteer staff
- strong problem-solving capabilities
- ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed
Job Duties
- Plan, manage and execute logistics for a broad range of events
- manage major meetings, receptions, and events
- prepare event timelines, budgets and contingency plans
- identify and secure event venues and vendors
- negotiate contracts and agreements
- coordinate with university departments and external vendors
- recruit and supervise event staff and volunteers
- monitor event preparation progress and expenditures
- attend events and resolve on-site issues
- maintain events calendar and analyze external event opportunities
- prepare event evaluation reports and statistical summaries
- conduct post-event reviews and implement improvements
- develop best practices documentation for event delivery to enhance institute and university image
