Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, sports management, hospitality, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in event planning, partnership development, or fundraising in for-profit or non-profit settings
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with corporate partners, volunteer groups, and community organizations
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers and part-time staff
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility principles
  • Experience in client relationship management using CRM software is a plus
  • Flexible and adaptable with a passion for representing a city or region

Job Duties

  • Manage services to event accounts across national, regional, and local groups
  • Determine and execute servicing and promotional support requirements with rights holders
  • Coordinate welcome programs, signage, street pole banners, info tables, and onsite staff services
  • Partner with sports groups and represent the Commission on local planning committees
  • Communicate client account issues and updates to Business Development Team
  • Update and maintain service activity in CRM database
  • Develop and measure event goals, track recurring business, record attendance, and evaluate post event surveys
  • Manage and track inventory of client giveaways, gifts, and event equipment
  • Assist Business Development Team with bid analysis and site inspections
  • Prepare event requirements for major bids including food, permits, budgets, supplies, and staffing
  • Coordinate and lead pre-planning client visits and entertainment
  • Attend client events to promote Columbus brand and maximize event attendance
  • Manage Sports Volunteer Program including recruitment, training, and impact tracking
  • Recruit and train supplemental staff for community events
  • Manage Downtown Hospitality Banner Program
  • Develop Events/Marketing Internship Program and lead recruitment
  • Organize student-athlete recognition events
  • Attend and speak at community district meetings
  • Build relationships with hospitality partners and participate in industry associations
