Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in hotel sales or event planning preferred
  • Ability to effectively handle guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
  • Excellent communication skills including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout to perform job functions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic math skills
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules
  • High accuracy and detail orientation
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audio visual, room sets, and menu planning preferred
  • Strong multi-project management skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Ability to remain calm and alert during emergencies
  • Ability to access and input information accurately using a computer
  • Professional and well-groomed appearance
  • Ability to respond promptly to requests and attend required meetings
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Combination of education and training in hotel sales or event planning may be considered
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient in Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations related to events
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audiovisual, room setups, and menu planning preferred
  • Strong multi-project management skills
  • Ability to conduct hotel tours and meet with clients
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Ability to represent the company professionally and courteously

Job Duties

  • Promptly answer telephone calls following Marriott and Marcus standards using clear and positive English communication
  • Communicate with clients to ensure event details are accurate and complete on a timely basis
  • Update and manage CI/TY system with event information and customer communication
  • Attend in-house meetings including Scrub, weekly Sales/Event team meetings
  • Organize, file, distribute, fax, and perform other essential functions necessary in daily department operation
  • Resolve problems such as price conflicts, menu description, banquet facilities, guarantees, and seating charts
  • Serve as liaison between Sales Manager(s) and clients in absence of Sales Manager
  • Book all in-house meetings and ensure banquet event orders are completed timely
  • Communicate special needs and changes to staff ensuring event requirements are met
  • Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies, Marriott Standards, and information protection procedures
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
