Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Four-year college degree preferred
- Ability to effectively handle guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills
- Ability to sit, stand and move throughout to perform essential job functions
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
- Basic mathematical skills
- Flexibility to work varying schedules
- High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
- Knowledge of food, beverage, audio visual, room sets and menu planning preferred
- Strong multiple project management skills
- Excellent telephone etiquette skills
- Professional, well-groomed and courteous manner
- Ability to respond promptly to requests
- Ability to conduct tours of hotel facilities
- Hearing and visual ability to observe emergency situations
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a computer
- Attend all catering and departmental meetings as necessary
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Four-year college degree preferred, however, any combination of education and training within hotel sales and/or event planning may be considered
- Ability to effectively handle guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills including reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
- Basic mathematical skills to calculate room blocks, function costs and estimated checks
- Knowledge of food, beverage, audio-visual, room sets and menu planning preferred
- Strong multiple project management skills
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Professional, well-groomed and courteous manner
- Ability to conduct tours of hotel facilities to clients
- Ability to respond promptly to requests for information on hotel facilities and menus
Job Duties
- Promptly answer telephone calls following Marriott and Marcus standards using clear and positive English communication
- Communicate information accurately to disseminate information and facts to relevant accounts and concerned departments
- Communicate with clients to ensure details for events are accurate and complete on a timely basis
- Update and manage CI/TY with event information and customer communication
- Detail, organize, and distribute Banquet Event Orders, resumes and other essential communications necessary in event management
- Attend in-house meetings including Scrub, weekly Sales/Event team meeting and other relevant meetings
- Organize, file, distribute, fax and perform other daily department operations
- Listen and extend assistance to resolve problems such as price conflicts, menu description, banquet facilities, guarantees and seating charts
- Plan and implement detailed steps using experienced judgement and discretion
- Remain calm and alert during emergency and heavy hotel activity
- Pass on incoming information and messages to clients when in-house
- Purchase gifts for clients as directed and deliver packages and faxes
- Act as liaison between Sales Manager(s) and clients in Sales Manager's absence
- Book all in-house meetings
- Achieve monetary goals agreed upon by General Manager and Director of Food and Beverage
- Complete Banquet Event Orders in a timely manner containing all necessary information for successful event execution
- Communicate all special needs and changes to responsible staff
- Know the function space details, appropriate set ups and turn times
- Ensure guest satisfaction by follow-up after events with thank you letters and comment cards
- Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies, Marriott Standards, and Information Protection procedures
- Perform additional related duties and special projects as assigned
