Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum of 3 years experience in event planning or management
  • proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
  • strong organizational skills
  • knowledge of marketing, public relations, and tourism activities
  • ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • ability to work evenings and weekends
  • valid driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, communications or related field preferred
  • experience in event planning and coordination
  • proficiency in social media platforms
  • knowledge of tour and travel industry
  • strong organizational and project management skills
  • ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation software
  • knowledge of marketing and public relations
  • ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate special events and projects
  • direct staff participating in events
  • serve as liaison to event vendors
  • coordinate the registration process including distribution of materials and assignment of exhibit space
  • plan and implement tourism activities
  • assist with training, scheduling and supervising volunteers
  • prepare briefs, summaries, and reports for event planning
  • respond to questions and resolve inquiries
  • interpret and communicate event regulations and policies
  • strategically plan and schedule events more than 12 months in advance
  • create and manage event budget
  • develop sponsor opportunities and manage sponsor relations
  • collaborate with marketing to create promotional materials
  • work with city departments to ensure compliance with permits and regulations
  • establish and maintain relationships with event organizers, sponsors, media and community groups
  • coordinate logistical support including security and permits
  • communicate extensively with supervisors, public, and other stakeholders
  • provide customer service with professionalism
  • act as film liaison for city filming applications and permits
