Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in event management or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree in related field
  • At least 1 year experience in event management or related professional area
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work full time on site at The US Grant San Diego
  • Management experience or capability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle guest complaints effectively
  • Knowledge of billing and revenue management
  • Commitment to teamwork and high service standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years experience in event management or related field
  • OR 2-year degree in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration or related major with at least 1 year experience
  • Experience coordinating events of average complexity
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage event teams
  • Proficiency in customer service and problem resolution
  • Knowledge of event trends and operational procedures
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to forecast revenue and manage budgets
  • Experience in sales support and up-selling

Job Duties

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments, and customers
  • Ensure seamless progress of events by following procedures and collaborating with employees
  • Greet customers during event phases and hand-off to Event Operations team
  • Manage group room blocks and meeting spaces for assigned groups
  • Identify operational challenges and develop solutions
  • Act as liaison between sales and customers through all event phases
  • Conduct pre- and post-event meetings and lead event management teams
  • Assist in sales process and revenue forecasting
  • Up-sell products and services throughout event process
  • Review billing for accuracy and conduct client bill reviews
  • Solicit feedback to identify improvements
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and empower employees
  • Handle guest problems and complaints
  • Respond to operational challenges and improve service performance
  • Participate in human resources activities related to event teams
