Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 3 years experience in event management or related role
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • proficiency with event management software and tools
  • knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • valid driver's license
  • excellent problem-solving abilities
  • familiarity with radio communication protocols
  • commitment to maintaining safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, business administration, or related field preferred
  • proven experience in event planning and sales
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • ability to manage budgets and fundraising goals
  • knowledge of marketing strategies and sales tools
  • familiarity with safety protocols and risk management
  • experience coordinating with external agencies and vendors

Job Duties

  • Create and sell event packages to meet revenue goals
  • plan, manage, execute, and assess Zoo internal events
  • maintain an events calendar and update checklists for all events
  • cultivate new and maintain repeat client relationships
  • coordinate activities with cross-functional teams including Operations, Development, Animal Department, and Marketing
  • develop and implement strategies to meet special event revenue goals
  • prepare budgets and fundraising objectives with the Operations Manager
  • manage sponsorship and ticket sales targets
  • coordinate necessary permits with city, county, and state authorities
  • ensure event venues meet client specifications prior to arrival
  • handle logistical details for fundraisers and high-profile donor events
  • plan and execute large-scale seasonal attendance-driving events
  • assist with volunteer management
  • coordinate and facilitate event committees and meetings
  • supervise outsourced bartending, security, parking staff, and other vendors
  • manage alcohol purchase and sales for all events
  • hire and manage outsourced event staff as needed
