Job Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage products and presentation
  • Knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up and audio-visual requirements
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and competitive market
  • Basic computational ability
  • Computer skills including accounting programs, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and sales skills
  • Exceptional organizational and supervisory skills
  • Availability to work varied shifts including weekends and evenings as business needs dictate

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience in event management or hotel sales environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of food and beverage products and banquet operations
  • Organizational and supervisory abilities
  • Ability to forecast revenues and manage budgets
  • Ability to work independently and as a team leader
  • Experience coordinating complex events and client relations

Job Duties

  • Maintain strong client relations and ensure convention specifications are communicated and executed for successful meetings
  • Monitor and manage room blocks according to contract utilizing group history and client information to maximize hotel revenue
  • Review sales contracts including room blocks, cutoff dates, special concessions, and attrition clauses and notify clients of any charges
  • Update hotel system with client and event information including payment details
  • Obtain direct bill applications and coordinate with accounting for credit approvals
  • Forecast group rooms and food and beverage revenues within five percent variance
  • Obtain and monitor rooming lists, menu details, meeting setups, refreshment needs, and other client requirements
  • Produce and distribute resumes prior to group arrival and communicate updates to hotel departments
  • Participate in site visits and plan meetings for upcoming groups
  • Serve as liaison between sales and operations departments to ensure client needs are met
  • Participate in pre/post convention meetings and review final invoices upon request
  • Greet clients on arrival ensuring compliance with banquet event orders
  • Monitor and enforce program deadlines and release unused meeting space
  • Distribute banquet event orders for groups and affiliates
  • Generate thank you notes and service evaluations in conjunction with Sales Manager
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of Sales or General Manager
