Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of event management or related professional experience
  • or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field
  • at least 1 year experience in event management or related area
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle operational challenges and provide solutions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Leadership and team coordination abilities
  • Available to work full-time
  • Located on site at Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years experience in event management or related area
  • OR 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major with at least 1 year experience in event management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Experience with operational problem-solving and event logistics
  • Customer service orientation with ability to handle guest complaints
  • Leadership skills including team coordination and meeting facilitation
  • Proficiency in event management software is preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments, and customers
  • Ensure seamless event progression by following established procedures and collaborating with team members
  • Greet customers during events and hand-off to Event Operations team
  • Ensure billing accuracy and review bills with clients prior to final processing
  • Manage group room blocks and meeting space for assigned groups
  • Identify operational challenges and develop solutions
  • Act as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout the event process
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist with sales process
  • Deliver and encourage excellent customer service throughout customer experience
  • Coordinate and communicate event details verbally and in writing
  • Follow up with customers post-event and respond to guest problems and complaints
  • Lead formal pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups
  • Assist in sales process and revenue forecasting
  • Up-sell products and services during the event process
  • Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
  • Provide feedback to employees and assist in corrective action plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
