Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of event management or related professional experience
- or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field
- at least 1 year experience in event management or related area
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle operational challenges and provide solutions
- Strong customer service skills
- Leadership and team coordination abilities
- Available to work full-time
- Located on site at Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years experience in event management or related area
- OR 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major with at least 1 year experience in event management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
- Experience with operational problem-solving and event logistics
- Customer service orientation with ability to handle guest complaints
- Leadership skills including team coordination and meeting facilitation
- Proficiency in event management software is preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments, and customers
- Ensure seamless event progression by following established procedures and collaborating with team members
- Greet customers during events and hand-off to Event Operations team
- Ensure billing accuracy and review bills with clients prior to final processing
- Manage group room blocks and meeting space for assigned groups
- Identify operational challenges and develop solutions
- Act as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout the event process
- Participate in customer site inspections and assist with sales process
- Deliver and encourage excellent customer service throughout customer experience
- Coordinate and communicate event details verbally and in writing
- Follow up with customers post-event and respond to guest problems and complaints
- Lead formal pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups
- Assist in sales process and revenue forecasting
- Up-sell products and services during the event process
- Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
- Provide feedback to employees and assist in corrective action plans
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
