Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in event management or related area
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work full time
  • Based at Sheraton Fairplex Suites & Conference Center, Pomona, California
  • Willingness to work weekends or evenings as required
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to handle customer complaints effectively
  • Team player with leadership abilities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in event management or related professional area preferred
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with at least 1 year of event management experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in event management software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams
  • Customer service oriented with problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of current trends in event management and design
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Experience in sales support and revenue forecasting

Job Duties

  • Prepares all event documentation and coordinates with sales, property departments, and customers
  • Manages event logistics ensuring seamless progression and adherence to established procedures
  • Greets customers and hands off to the Event Operations team for event execution
  • Ensures billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with clients
  • Manages group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized groups
  • Identifies and resolves operational challenges working with property staff and customers
  • Acts as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout all event phases
  • Participates in customer site inspections and supports sales process
  • Provides exceptional customer service and empowers employees to do the same
  • Coordinates and communicates event details to customer and property operations
  • Oversees customer experience from file turnover through post-event phase
  • Follows up with customers post-event
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
  • Leads formal pre- and post-event meetings for assigned groups
  • Facilitates various event meetings
  • Assists in sales process and revenue forecasting
  • Up-sells products and services
  • Reviews guest satisfaction results and provides employee feedback
  • Develops and implements corrective action plans
  • Takes initiative to improve service performance
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
