Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, marketing, business, or a directly related field
  • one to two years of professional event management experience depending on level
  • ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels
  • outstanding customer service skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment
  • strong multitasking abilities
  • strong self-motivation and proactivity
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, marketing, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • one year of professional level experience in event management for intermediate level
  • two years of professional level experience in event management for senior level
  • combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis
  • experience in venue and vendor contract negotiations
  • experience developing and tracking budgets
  • experience in financial analysis
  • experience in event marketing and communication
  • experience in project management
  • ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • outstanding customer service skills
  • ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • strong multitasking and self-motivation skills
  • ability to work independently and in teams
  • highly motivated and self-starter

Job Duties

  • organize and oversee department events including dinners, receptions, and holiday parties
  • manage residency and fellowship recruitment and graduation activities in partnership with the education team
  • coordinate continuing education programs involving sponsors, speakers, and attendees
  • solicit sponsorships and arrange speaker travel and accommodations
  • research and negotiate with venues, hotels, caterers, and vendors adhering to university fiscal policies
  • manage event registration and communication using Cvent and Marketing Cloud
  • provide onsite event support and manage logistics
