Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degrees in sports management, hospitality, event planning or related field
  • prior experience in events or hospitality
  • exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • organized, energetic, positive, flexible, and detail-oriented
  • willingness to learn new industry standards
  • welcoming presence and ability to work with various internal and external constituents
  • ability to work independently on projects
  • good emotional decision-making and self-control under pressure
  • knowledge of risk management and safety compliance
  • ability to move around campus as needed
  • flexibility to work irregular hours including nights and weekends
  • ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • capacity to lift and move objects up to 20 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, hospitality, event planning or related field
  • prior experience in events or hospitality
  • exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • strong interpersonal and client relationship skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • experience with event scheduling and ticketing systems
  • ability to work evenings and weekends
  • leadership and supervisory experience

Job Duties

  • Plan events, camps and conferences of varying complexity
  • serve as liaison among university departments including catering, facilities, police, and risk management
  • develop client relationships to encourage repeat business
  • collaborate with academic and external constituents on event materials
  • negotiate contracts in collaboration with leadership
  • ensure events comply with university policies and regulations
  • assist in supervision of student staff such as house managers and event interns
  • serve as on-site manager during events to troubleshoot issues
  • document and evaluate events post-completion
  • manage financial projections for events
  • present a professional image and ensure excellent customer service
  • coordinate usage of Ad Astra and planning pod event systems
  • operate Microsoft Office applications
  • identify and improve internal processes
  • perform other related duties as assigned
